Prabowo to Meet Japanese Emperor and PM to Discuss Investment-Energy Cooperation
President Prabowo Subianto is undertaking a state visit to Japan. He departed for the Land of the Rising Sun this afternoon.
This visit forms part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, particularly in the energy sector.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that during the official visit, Prabowo is scheduled to carry out several important agendas. One of them is a state call on Japanese Emperor Naruhito.
In addition, Prabowo is also scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, which will take place at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo. The meeting is expected to serve as a strategic momentum to strengthen cooperation in various fields.
“There are several areas of cooperation in investment, energy, maritime, and digital,” explained Teddy in his statement on Sunday (29/3/2026).
Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to Japan are Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
After completing the series of visits in Japan, President Prabowo and his entourage are scheduled to continue their journey to the Republic of Korea or South Korea (ROK) to carry out the next visit.
“This series of trips is part of Indonesia’s active diplomacy in strengthening its strategic position in the East Asia region,” he concluded.
