President Prabowo Subianto appreciated Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for inviting him to visit Japan during the cherry blossom season. He stated that the welcome he received was very warm.

“First of all, I convey my highest appreciation and thanks to Prime Minister Takaichi and the Japanese government for the warm and honourable welcome, as well as the invitation extended to me to visit Japan during this beautiful cherry blossom season,” said Prabowo during a bilateral meeting session at the Akasaka Palace in Tokyo on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Prabowo also expressed thanks to Japanese Emperor Naruhito, who had received him. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperative relations with Japan.

“I am also very grateful that yesterday I was received by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, and once again I reaffirm our commitment to strengthening relations between Japan and Indonesia, which have long been running very well,” he said.

Prabowo raised the issue of the heating global geopolitical situation during his visit. He encouraged that the good cooperation between Indonesia and Japan become a good example in guaranteeing stability and peace in the region.

“We are very concerned about this situation, and amid this uncertainty, the good cooperative relations between Indonesia and Japan are an example of collaboration that leads to and guarantees stability and peace in our region,” he said.

It is known that Prabowo is conducting his first official visit to Japan from 29-31 March 2026. Prabowo began the visit by meeting Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on 30 March. This was followed by a meeting with the Japanese PM at the Akasaka Palace today.
