President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto arrived in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday (29/3/2026) for a state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of investment and the economy.

Quoting the Instagram account @presidenrepublikindonesia, during this visit, the President is scheduled to meet with Emperor Naruhito and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. These meetings are expected to serve as a momentum to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries, especially amid increasingly complex global dynamics.

Upon arrival in Tokyo, the President also received a warm welcome from the Indonesian diaspora. The presence of the Indonesian community in Japan reflects the strong people-to-people relations that have long been one of the foundations of bilateral ties between Indonesia and Japan.

This visit is considered important in promoting increased Japanese investment in Indonesia, as well as expanding cooperation in various strategic sectors, including industry, infrastructure, and energy.

Furthermore, this step is part of the government’s efforts to maintain solid foreign investment flows amid global uncertainties, while strengthening Indonesia’s position as a primary partner for Japan in the Asian region.

Previously reported, the President departed from Halim Perdanakusuma TNI AU Base, Jakarta, on Sunday (29/3/2026) around 10:35 WIB, accompanied by a limited entourage.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi explained that this visit is part of an official invitation from the Emperor of Japan.

The meetings will be utilised to strengthen friendly relations while deepening cooperation in various strategic sectors.

“As usual, these meetings are certainly to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and indeed, the President will specifically discuss many strategic matters that have long been the strength of our cooperation with the Japanese Government,” he stated.

After completing the visit to Japan, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya conveyed that President Prabowo and his entourage are scheduled to continue their journey to the Republic of Korea.

Accompanying the President on this visit are, among others, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
