Prabowo to Japan Invited by Emperor Naruhito to Strengthen Cooperation

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Japan is to fulfil an invitation from Emperor Naruhito. The meeting is scheduled to discuss several strategic issues from trade to education. “Regarding the President’s visit to Japan, this is to fulfil the invitation from Emperor Naruhito. So, of course, the agenda includes a meeting with the Emperor and will continue with a meeting with Prime Minister Takaichi,” said Prasetyo Hadi to reporters on Sunday (29/3/2026). He mentioned that Prabowo’s meetings with Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi aim to strengthen cooperation. The friendly relations between the two countries also need to be maintained. “As usual, these meetings are certainly to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and specifically, the President will discuss many strategic matters that have long been the strength of our cooperation with the Japanese government,” he said. Prasetyo stated that Indonesia and Japan will discuss issues from trade to technology. The meeting will also touch on cooperation in forestry and the environment. “For example, in terms of trade, then technology, then education, and including in the scope of forestry and environmental cooperation,” he said. Quoted from the Presidential Press Bureau on Sunday (29/3), Prabowo departed with a limited entourage from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, around 10:35 WIB. Prabowo’s departure was seen off directly by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Accompanying Prabowo on the flight to Japan were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Teddy said Prabowo is scheduled to carry out several important agendas, one of which is to fulfil the invitation of Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace. In addition, Prabowo is also scheduled to meet with PM Takaichi, which will take place at Akasaka Palace, Tokyo. “One of them is President Prabowo will make a state call to Japanese Emperor Naruhito,” said Teddy.
