Prabowo to Increase Salaries for Clerks up to Administrative Staff in Courts

JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has promised to increase salaries for court employees after first raising the pay of judges. Prabowo mentioned that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (MA), Sunarto, appreciated the salary increase for judges but also reminded him that there are other employees besides judges in the courts. “The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court told me, ‘Sir, thank you for your attention to the judges, but Sir, in our courts we still have other officers, the clerks’ salaries haven’t been raised yet, Sir, then there are staff, there is administration,‘” Prabowo said, quoting Sunarto’s message at the Attorney General’s Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/5/2026). “Yes, yes, yes, okay, I understand, I get it. The Minister of Finance, find money for all court officers, their salaries must also be increased,” he said. Prabowo also reminded other institutions not to be envious of the salary increases in the judicial institutions. On the same occasion, Prabowo urged the judges through the Chief Justice of the MA to make decisions that provide justice to the people. Previously reported, Prabowo had increased judges’ salaries by up to 280 per cent. This is inseparable from the government’s recent state budget savings policy.”Today, based on the savings we have made, as a result of the ministers’ work, I can come to the judges and I fulfil my promise to increase the judges’ salaries,” Prabowo said at the JCC, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (12/6/2025). “And we decided that the salaries of our most junior judges will increase by more than 200 per cent, approaching 280 per cent,” he added.
