President Prabowo Subianto has committed to increasing the allocation of development funds across all regions down to the village level in the coming years. He stated this while inaugurating the completion of the 2025 Presidential Instruction (Inpres) for Regional Roads spanning 1,151 kilometres throughout Indonesia for the year 2025 in Sampang Regency, East Java, on Tuesday. “In the years to come, we will increase funding for development in all regions down to the villages,” said Prabowo. Prabowo stressed that no region should be left behind simply due to limited road access. According to him, road infrastructure development plays a crucial role in improving public welfare because it facilitates economic activity, goods distribution, and community access to various services. The President emphasised that road construction is one of the government’s efforts to strengthen inter-regional connectivity and support regional economic growth. “Indonesia is a very large country with a vast territory and diverse geographical conditions. Transport costs will become cheaper if there are sufficient roads, if there is connectivity between all production centres and residential areas,” the President stated. The President also urged regional governments to maintain and utilise the infrastructure that has been built as effectively as possible. Furthermore, the President said the completed regional road construction was the result of hard work by various parties, including the Ministry of Public Works and the regional governments involved in its implementation. Prabowo assessed that the quality of the roads built was quite good and needed to be maintained. The President also stressed that all expenditures sourced from public funds must be carried out optimally. “All spending of the people’s money must be executed as effectively as possible,” said Prabowo. The President symbolically inaugurated the construction of 1,151 kilometres of regional roads spread across 37 provinces throughout Indonesia in Sampang Regency as a manifestation of equitable national development. On the same occasion, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo said the road construction was aimed at smoothing the supply chain from production areas to consumer markets and strengthening the connection of regional roads with the national road network and public service centres. He explained that the construction and improvement of 1,151 kilometres of roads in 37 provinces was supported by a state budget allocation of Rp5.41 trillion. All work, he said, has been 100 percent completed and is ready for public use. “We strictly monitored the quality of all these works, carried out in a planned, measured, and accountable manner. Currently, 100 percent has been completed and can be directly utilised by the community,” said Dody. Dody conveyed that road infrastructure development is no longer concentrated in certain areas but reaches various regions across Indonesia to support economic growth and national connectivity.
