Prabowo to Inaugurate Village Electrification Programme This Month
President Prabowo Subianto is set to inaugurate a village electricity programme this month, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has confirmed. Speaking at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026), Bahlil said the exact date was still being finalised. “The date is still under discussion, God willing it will be in August,” he stated. He indicated the inauguration is planned to take place before the presentation of the 2027 State Budget Bill and Financial Note, scheduled for 14 August 2026 at the parliament building. “The plan is before that, but we will confirm the certainty later,” Bahlil added. He was also unable to confirm the location for the ceremony. During a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace earlier, Bahlil had outlined the programme, noting that approximately 11,000 villages across the country still lack electricity access. The initial phase, comprising 1,400 villages completed in 2025, will be officially launched by the president before mid-August.
