Prabowo to Inaugurate Meninting Dam During Working Visit to NTB

President Prabowo Subianto has announced a working visit to officially inaugurate and inspect the Meninting Dam in Gunung Sari District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Friday (10/7). Speaking before state officials and business representatives at the launch of the mandatory B50 programme at the KM 57 rest area of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday, President Prabowo confirmed his travel plans. “Tomorrow, the 10th, I must go to Lombok,” President Prabowo stated during the event. The President confirmed the agenda for the working visit to NTB while jesting about calculating dates that ultimately led to his favourite number, eight. In a separate occasion, NTB Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, speaking to journalists in Mataram on Thursday, also confirmed the President’s working visit on 10 July. “The President is coming to inaugurate the Meninting Dam. That is his only agenda for coming here,” the Governor said. During the inauguration, President Prabowo will be accompanied by several ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, and Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf. The President will also be accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Regarding the President’s working visit, the Head of the NTB Provincial Communication and Information Office, who also serves as the NTB Provincial Government Spokesperson, Ahsanul Khalik, explained that President Prabowo is scheduled to land at Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM) on Friday afternoon. He will then continue by helicopter to a location near the Meninting Dam. “He will arrive at BIZAM, then is planned to take a helicopter and land at the helipad at Meninting. It is estimated that the President will arrive at the location around 2 p.m.,” Ahsanul said. The Meninting Dam, located in Bukti Tinggi Village, Gunung Sari District, and Dasan Geria Village, Lingsar District, West Lombok, is a national strategic project whose construction began in 2019 and was completed in 2025. The dam has a capacity of 13.14 million cubic metres and a reservoir area of approximately 54 hectares. It functions to provide irrigation, water storage and reserves, flood control, a micro-hydro power plant, and a solar power plant. The Meninting Dam area is now also equipped with a spillway to prevent water overflow, an intake structure, and an inspection road to support operations and maintenance.
