Prabowo to Inaugurate Meninting Dam During Working Visit to NTB
President Prabowo Subianto has revealed plans for a working visit to inaugurate and personally inspect the Meninting Dam in Gunung Sari District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Friday (10 July).
Speaking before a number of state officials and business representatives at the launch of the mandatory B50 policy at the KM 57 Rest Area of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday, President Prabowo announced the agenda for his working visit to NTB. “Tomorrow, on the 10th (of July), I must go to Lombok,” President Prabowo said at the launch event.
The President confirmed the agenda for his working visit to NTB the following day as he joked about counting the dates, which ultimately pointed to his favourite number, the number “8”.
In a separate statement, the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, also confirmed to journalists in Mataram, NTB, on Thursday that President Prabowo’s working visit would take place on 10 July.
“The President is coming to inaugurate the Meninting Dam. That is His Excellency’s only agenda for coming here (to NTB),” the NTB Governor said.
At the inauguration ceremony, President Prabowo will be accompanied by several of his ministers, namely the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, and the Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf.
The President will also be accompanied by the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, and the Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Regarding President Prabowo’s working visit tomorrow, the Head of the NTB Provincial Government’s Communication, Information and Technology Agency, who also serves as spokesperson for the NTB Provincial Government, Ahsanul Khalik, explained that President Prabowo is scheduled to land at Zainuddin Abdul Majid International Airport (BIZAM) on Friday afternoon, after which the President will continue by helicopter to the area around the Meninting Dam.
“He will arrive at BIZAM, then the plan is to use a helicopter and land at the helipad in Meninting. It is estimated that at around 2 pm the President will arrive at the location,” Ahsanul said.
The Meninting Dam, located in Bukti Tinggi Village, Gunung Sari District, and Dasan Geria Village, Lingsar District, in West Lombok, is a national strategic project (PSN) whose construction began in 2019 and was completed in 2025.
The dam has a capacity of 13.14 million cubic metres with an inundation area of approximately 54 hectares, and serves functions including irrigation, water storage and reserves, flood control, micro-hydropower generation (PLTMH) and solar power generation (PLTS).
The Meninting Dam area has also been equipped with a spillway to prevent water overflow, an intake structure and inspection roads to support operations and maintenance.
