Prabowo to Inaugurate Education-Related Institution Heads This Afternoon

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan) Sudaryono as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) this afternoon. In addition to Sudaryono, Prabowo will also inaugurate the head of an institution in the education sector.

“The inauguration (of the Head of BGN) is planned to take place this afternoon at 15.00 WIB,” said Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi at a press conference at the Presidential Palace complex on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

Pras said Prabowo will also inaugurate the leader of the Universitas Republik Indonesia. He said two people will be inaugurated this afternoon.

“There is one official who will also be inaugurated this afternoon, namely the Leader of the Universitas Republik Indonesia, which is part of what the President has conveyed on various occasions — that we want to strengthen our institutions,” said Pras.

“Especially our educational institutions, to prepare candidates for future national leaders who will staff the government, whether in the civil service, as state employees, or in our state-owned enterprises. So there will be two officials inaugurated this afternoon,” he added.

Previously, Pras explained the reasons Prabowo appointed Sudaryono as Head of BGN. One of them is that Sudaryono has been involved since the beginning with the concept and ideas behind the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

Moreover, as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Sudaryono’s work has overlapped with MBG activities.

“And as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, of course the National Nutrition Agency — whose activity is providing free nutritious meals — has never been separate from his duties at the Ministry of Agriculture,” he said.

“Because, after all, the raw material sources, the food ingredient sources used in the free nutritious meals for beneficiaries, have all along been supported and underpinned as an ecosystem by the Ministry of Agriculture, where Mr Sudaryono serves as Deputy Minister,” he continued.

It is understood that Nanik S Deyang, the previous Head of BGN, resigned. Nanik said she wished to focus on undergoing heart treatment.
