Prabowo to Inaugurate 895 'Merah Putih Presisi' Bridges Virtually Today
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto will virtually inaugurate the Merah Putih Presisi bridges in several regions of Indonesia on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the inauguration is centred on Jl. Bayah-Cikotok, Kampung Bayah Satu, Bayah Barat Village, Bayah District, Lebak Regency, Banten. The bridge connects Bayah Barat Village with Darmasari Village and provides direct benefits to around 8,000 people.
“The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Prabowo Subianto, will virtually inaugurate the Merah Putih Presisi bridges in several regions of Indonesia on Thursday, 13 August 2026,” Prasetyo said in a written statement on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
The Merah Putih Presisi bridge programme is part of the National Police’s role in helping meet the basic infrastructure needs of communities, especially in rural areas that still face limited access.
The scale is considerable. To date, the National Police has built and revitalised 895 bridges through self-help efforts across 30 regional police commands, with a total length of 19.2 kilometres. These hundreds of bridges connect 1,314 villages and benefit around two million people across various regions of Indonesia.
The presence of the bridges does not merely shorten distances between villages. The infrastructure also serves as an important route for communities to access schools, health facilities, places of worship and centres of economic activity.
The government considers the programme to demonstrate that basic infrastructure development does not always have to rely on large-scale projects. Cross-institutional and community collaboration can be a solution to address needs that are directly felt by residents.
“The government appreciates the Merah Putih Presisi bridges as a form of mutual cooperation in development initiated by the National Police and carried out collaboratively with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, regional governments, foundations, volunteers, technicians and the community,” Prasetyo said.
According to the government, the construction of safe and proper bridges is expected to have a ripple effect. In addition to strengthening regional connectivity, the bridges also open access to education, basic services and community economic activities.
“The presence of safe and proper bridges is expected not only to strengthen regional connectivity, but also to open access to education, basic services and community economic activities,” Prasetyo said.
The programme also demonstrates a development approach that targets concrete problems at the community level. In areas where access has long been limited, the presence of a bridge can serve as the main link to various services and centres of community activity.
