Prabowo to Inaugurate 100 GW Solar Power Project, Rooftop Solar Business Eyes Growth
In an effort to strengthen energy security and accelerate the renewable energy mix, President Prabowo Subianto is preparing to inaugurate the development of a 100 Gigawatt (GW) solar power plant (PLTS) project. This move aligns with the government’s commitment to the national energy transition. Amarangga Lubis, Chief Executive Officer of SolarKita, expressed optimism regarding the prospects for developing new and renewable energy (EBT) in Indonesia, particularly in the solar power sector. He highlighted that the current implementation of solar power in Indonesia has only reached 1.5 GW, indicating that the potential for further development remains vast, especially in the residential rooftop solar (PLTS Atap) and business sectors. Despite the significant opportunities, Lubis acknowledged that a major challenge persists in the form of low public awareness regarding the benefits and adoption of solar energy solutions.
