Prabowo to Hold Cabinet Session on Ramadan Preparations This Afternoon

President Prabowo Subianto will convene a Cabinet Session to discuss preparations for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri on Friday 13 March.

“There will be a Cabinet Session on readiness for Ramadan today at 4 PM WIB,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy said in a brief message.

Before holding the cabinet session, Teddy announced that the event would begin with zakat al-maal and zakat al-fitr contributions from cabinet members to the National Zakat Board.

He stated the event is planned to take place at approximately 3 PM WIB at the State Palace.

Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri will arrive shortly. Muhammadiyah previously decided that Eid al-Fitr 1447 H falls on Friday, 20 March 2026.

Meanwhile, the new government will confirm 1 Shawwal through an isbat session scheduled for 19 March.

This year’s Eid is also expected to not be celebrated together, similar to the beginning of Ramadan this year.

Thomas Djamaluddin, a researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), estimates that during the isbat session on 19 March 2026, the crescent moon may not yet be visible.

This is because on that day the hilal, or new moon, does not yet meet the MABIMS criteria requirements.

“During maghrib on 19 March 2026 in the Southeast Asian region, the position of the hilal does not meet the new MABIMS criteria, therefore 1 Shawwal 1447 = 21 March 2026,” Thomas wrote in his blog post in June 2025.
