Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that he will directly manage several areas of cooperation between Indonesia and Russia that have not yet reached their full potential, particularly overseeing monetary relations, during a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia, on Monday local time.

“There are one or two things that we need to accelerate, and I will handle them personally right away. Especially regarding monetary relations between the two sides, I will oversee them myself,” Prabowo said, as monitored from the live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday.

In the meeting, Prabowo conveyed that most of the agreements discussed between Indonesia and Russia several months ago have shown rapid progress.

Prabowo emphasised that he will take direct charge of handling sectors that require acceleration, particularly monetary relations between the two countries.

In addition, Prabowo expressed appreciation to the Russian government for the support provided to Indonesia, including in the process of Indonesia’s acceptance as a BRICS member, which he noted proceeded quickly.

According to him, Russia has also provided support for various important needs of Indonesia in several strategic sectors.

“In several matters that are very important to Indonesia, President Putin has supported and provided assistance for Indonesia’s requirements,” said the Head of State.

On that occasion, Prabowo also conveyed thanks for President Putin’s reception of his visit, despite the relatively short notice amid a busy schedule.

“I have already met with many Russian delegations in Jakarta and also in Moscow; just recently I met with some Russian officials and companies. I am very grateful because the discussions were very productive,” he said.

Prabowo arrived in Moscow, Russia, on Monday (13/4) at 07.45 local time, to carry out a working visit to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

While in Moscow, the Head of State is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting is expected to serve as a strategic momentum to strengthen the partnership between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector and other priority sectors.

The visit also reflects Indonesia’s active diplomatic steps in building mutually beneficial partnerships with friendly countries. The Indonesian government views Russia as an important partner in supporting global economic stability and growth.
