Prabowo to Depart for Russia Tomorrow, to Meet Putin and Discuss Oil
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto will depart for Russia on Sunday (12/4) tomorrow and is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the meeting between Prabowo and Putin will discuss several strategic issues related to global geopolitical dynamics, quoted from detikcom, Saturday (11/4/2026).
Sugiono said that energy issues, including oil, will be one of the main topics to be discussed. This is because energy issues hold strategic value for Indonesia’s national interests.
To date, two Indonesian tanker ships have not yet been granted permission to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The two ships belong to Pertamina’s subsidiary, PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), namely Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro. Both are delayed in crossing the Strait of Hormuz because it is still closed by Iran.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that the government is currently continuing intensive diplomatic communication with the relevant authorities in Iran.
Bahlil previously mentioned that there was a glimmer of hope amid the two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran.
However, it is known that the situation heated up after Israel attacked Lebanon. Iran firmly re-closed the Strait of Hormuz.
Currently, the leaders of the US and Iran are conducting negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan. We await the results!
