Prabowo to Deliver Two Speeches at MPR-DPR Today: What's on the Agenda?

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to deliver two speeches at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, today, Friday (14/8).

The first speech is the State Address and Performance Report of State Institutions. The speech will be delivered during the MPR RI Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI at 08.30 WIB.

The annual session is held with the aim of conveying the performance of state institutions to the public. The session is scheduled to run until 11.00 WIB.

In the second speech, Prabowo will deliver an introduction for the submission of the Draft Law on the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RUU APBN) for the 2027 Fiscal Year along with the Financial Note. The submission will take place at the DPR RI Plenary Meeting, which will be held at 14.30 WIB.

So, what will be discussed in these speeches?

The State Address is delivered ahead of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. In previous years, the state address began with greetings to those attending the session, such as the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, former Presidents and Vice Presidents, leaders and members of state institutions, party leaders, and representatives from foreign countries.

Furthermore, the speech may also discuss the history and journey of Indonesia. Not only that, the State Address is an important moment in which the president conveys the government’s policy direction and commitments for the future.

Meanwhile, the president’s speech at the DPR RI Plenary Meeting is delivered as an introduction or government statement regarding the 2027 State Budget Bill and the Financial Note.

In previous years, this series of sessions was held on 16 August. However, Speaker of the DPR RI Puan Maharani stated that the series of sessions was brought forward to 14 August to align with the working week.

The series of sessions can be watched via live broadcast on DPR RI’s social media, TVR Parlemen, and MPR’s social media. The speech will also be broadcast through the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account.
