Prabowo to Deliver 'Surprise' in Today's MPR Annual Session Speech
President Prabowo Subianto will deliver the State Address at the MPR RI Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI, as well as present the 2027 State Budget Draft (RAPBN) and Financial Note at the MPR/DPR RI Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday.
These two state agendas form an important part of the series of events commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence.
“The morning session will take place from 08.30 to 10.47 WIB and will be followed by the presentation of the 2027 RAPBN and Financial Note from 13.30 to 16.07 WIB,” said State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi in a written statement on Friday, 14 August 2026.
Prasetyo explained that the state address should have been held on 16 August, the day before the peak of the Independence Day celebrations on 17 August.
However, he said, this year 16 August falls on a Sunday, so in accordance with prevailing regulations, the state address and the presentation of the 2027 RAPBN are being held on the preceding working day.
In the morning session, the sitting will be chaired by MPR RI Speaker Ahmad Muzani together with DPD RI Speaker Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, and attended by MPR members comprising DPR and DPD members, as well as invited guests, including former presidents and vice presidents and their spouses, leaders of state institutions, ministers and equivalent officials, political party leaders, and ambassadors and representatives of friendly nations.
On this occasion, President Prabowo will deliver the State Address as well as a report on the performance of state institutions.
Prasetyo said that Prabowo will spring a surprise during today’s MPR annual session speech.
“This year, many are certainly waiting to hear what the President will say. Several things have been prepared and there is a surprise which I think would be a shame to only hear through snippets of news coverage or short videos on social media,” said Prasetyo.
In the afternoon session, the sitting will be chaired by DPR RI Speaker Puan Maharani with the agenda of the presentation of the 2027 RAPBN and Financial Note by President Prabowo as part of the state financial planning process.
He invited the entire public to follow and listen to the entirety of President Prabowo’s speech at the MPR annual session.
“Therefore, I invite the public to follow the entire series of the President’s speeches in full, both in the morning session and the afternoon presentation of the RAPBN and Financial Note. What is the surprise? Let us listen together directly from the President,” he said.
