Prabowo to Deliver Speech, DPR Hopes Annual Session Runs Smoothly

The annual session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the joint session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) are being held today, Friday, 14 August 2026. During this session, President Prabowo Subianto will deliver a speech regarding the 2027 State Budget (APBN).

“Yes, this annual session, the President’s speech in the context of the 2027 APBN is the first,” said Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad to reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday, 14 August 2026.

Regarding today’s session, Dasco stated that preparations have been underway since yesterday. He expressed hope that the joint session and the annual session would proceed smoothly. “Hopefully today it can run smoothly,” he explained.

It was previously reported that MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani said the agenda for the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the MPR, DPR, and DPD would be held on Friday, 14 August 2026. He mentioned that the annual session would take place from morning until noon. In the agenda, Prabowo will deliver a state address and present a report on the performance of government institutions.

“We will listen to the president’s state address as head of state, as well as the delivery of the performance report of state institutions,” Muzani stated at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.

Muzani said the MPR will invite former presidents and vice presidents, ministers, ambassadors from friendly nations, and general chairpersons of political parties. “Those we are inviting are all former presidents, former vice presidents, former MPR speakers and leaders, as well as former DPR and DPD leaders, along with ministers, ambassadors, and general chairpersons of parties; we are inviting them all,” he detailed.
