Prabowo to Corruptors: Come to Your Senses, the People Are Not Stupid!

President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that he will discipline state-owned enterprises (BUMN), which have long been a source of corruption.

Prabowo made the remarks while attending the peak event of the 79th Cooperative Day commemoration for 2026 at the Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), on Sunday, 12 July 2026.

“These BUMN will be put in order. All this time, BUMN have been a source of corruption,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo did not specify which BUMN were sources of corruption or would be disciplined. However, he warned corruptors to stop such corrupt practices.

“I warn again, once again, for the umpteenth time I have spoken about this since long ago. Hey, corruptors, come to your senses, stop your practices, stop, the people are not stupid. Stop. Return the people’s wealth, return it in full,” he said.

Furthermore, Prabowo noted that many groups in Indonesia still need better incomes, including doctors, teachers and civil servants.

Prabowo also said the Indonesian people still need justice for what the corruptors have done.

“We are a forgiving nation. But the people need justice, need prosperity, need good schools. Teachers need decent salaries. Doctors and nurses need decent salaries. Soldiers and police need decent salaries so that they do not extort the people. Civil servants need decent salaries so that they do not engage in corruption. Believe me, let us unite all elements,” Prabowo concluded.
