Prabowo to Chair Cabinet Meeting Today, Focus on Programme Acceleration

President Prabowo Subianto will chair a plenary cabinet session at the Presidential Palace today, Monday, 20 July 2026. The news was confirmed by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi. “God willing, the plenary cabinet session will take place this afternoon,” Prasetyo said via text message to journalists on Monday morning. The Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Central Executive Board did not provide detailed information on the specific agenda for the meeting. He noted that the session is similar to regular meetings held by Prabowo to discuss programmes with his aides. “All sectors are continuously discussed, it’s just that sometimes the plenary cabinet mechanism is needed,” he said. Prasetyo emphasised that discussions at today’s meeting would cover all government sectors. “What is specifically discussed is the acceleration of programme implementation,” Prasetyo stated. He added that evaluations of Prabowo’s various programmes are always a key part of every meeting. President Prabowo last held a plenary cabinet session on Friday, 13 March 2026. All members of the Red and White Cabinet, including ministers, deputy ministers, agency heads, and special presidential advisers, attended the large meeting. The session discussed the government’s readiness for the 1447 Hijriah Idul Fitri holiday and various other issues. During that meeting, Prabowo expressed a desire for fiscal prudence to face a potential crisis resulting from the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran. He cited examples of other countries that have already implemented austerity measures, such as cutting officials’ salaries. He noted that Pakistan had taken such steps, viewing the Middle East crisis as equivalent to the Covid-19 pandemic. “They even reduced salaries for cabinet members, for members of parliament, and all these savings are collected to help the most vulnerable groups,” Prabowo said during the cabinet session at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026. In the same agenda, Prabowo also revealed that he regularly receives intelligence reports about observers who are not fond of his administration. He claimed these critics are funded by parties opposed to the government. “Previously I was outside the government, now I am the president. So I get intelligence reports every day,” he said.
