Prabowo to Chair Cabinet Meeting Today, Focus on Programme Acceleration
President Prabowo Subianto will chair a plenary cabinet session at the Presidential Palace today, Monday, 20 July 2026. The news was confirmed by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
“God willing, this afternoon (the plenary cabinet session),” Prasetyo said via a text message to journalists on Monday morning.
The Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s Central Executive Board did not elaborate on what would be discussed at the cabinet session. According to him, the meeting is similar to those Prabowo regularly holds to discuss programmes with his ministers. “All sectors continue to be discussed; it’s just that sometimes specific decrees (SKP) are needed,” he said.
The former member of the House of Representatives emphasised that today’s cabinet session would target all government sectors. “What will certainly be specifically discussed is the acceleration of programme implementation,” said Prasetyo.
He also confirmed that the evaluation of Prabowo’s various programmes takes place at every meeting. “Certainly, the main focus of every meeting is programme evaluation,” said Prasetyo.
President Prabowo last held a plenary cabinet session on Friday, 13 March 2026. All members of the Red and White Cabinet — ministers, deputy ministers, heads of agencies and special presidential advisers — attended the large gathering. That session discussed the government’s preparations ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, along with various other issues.
On that occasion, Prabowo expressed his desire to economise in anticipation of a potential crisis arising from the war between the United States and Israel against Iran. He cited other countries that had already adopted austerity measures through cuts to officials’ salaries.
He said Pakistan had tightened its belt because it viewed the Middle East crisis as equivalent to the Covid-19 pandemic. “They even reduced the salaries of cabinet members and members of parliament, and all these salary savings were collected to help the most vulnerable groups,” Prabowo said during the cabinet session at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
Furthermore, at that session Prabowo revealed that he regularly receives intelligence reports about observers who dislike his administration. Prabowo claimed these critics are funded by parties opposed to those in power. “Before, I was outside the government; now I am the president. So I receive intelligence reports every day,” he said.
