Prabowo to Build Fishermen's Village in Miangas, Targeting Completion in 5 Months

Prabowo conveyed this in front of Miangas residents on Saturday (9/5/2026). Prabowo initially revealed that his side is providing fishing vessel assistance measuring 15 gross tons.

“Today we are also providing assistance; earlier, where was that fishing boat we helped with? Minister of Fisheries, come here. Do you know him? Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. His full name is Sakti Wahyu Trenggono; he is responsible for sea and fisheries issues. Today we are providing assistance; how big is one vessel? 15 gross tons, that’s quite large, extraordinary,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo then revealed plans to build a fishermen’s village. Prabowo subsequently assured Trenggono that construction would start next month.

“But he also plans that we will build a special fishermen’s village. When to start? This year? Construction starts next month, right? I’ll check again later,” he stated.

In the fishermen’s village, there will be ice-making machines as well as cold storage warehouses. The government will also provide a special fuelling station for fishermen’s vessels.

Prabowo committed to building fishermen’s villages throughout Indonesia. In December, he will inaugurate 1,386 fishermen’s villages across Indonesia.

“We will extensively improve the conditions of fishermen throughout Indonesia; we will start improving this year, so this year in December we will inaugurate 1,386 fishermen’s villages throughout Indonesia,” he said.

The Fishermen’s Village on Miangas Island is targeted for completion in 5 months. The catch from there, he said, can be marketed to other regions.

“Hopefully, there will be one fishermen’s village here in a short time. How long if construction starts next month? That means how many months? In 5 months, you will have a pretty good fishermen’s village,” said Prabowo.

“There is already an airport; perhaps the fish catch can be marketed, so that income increases, I think so,” he continued.
