Prabowo to Break Fast with Ulama and Islamic Organisations at Merdeka Palace Tomorrow
President Prabowo Subianto will pay courtesy calls to religious figures, ulama, and leaders of Islamic organisations at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, tomorrow. The gathering will also be followed by a breaking-fast event.
‘So, here’s the thing, yes, it is customary for the President to invite religious figures, ulama to break fast tomorrow,’ said Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar after meeting President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
Nasaruddin said the leaders of pesantren (ponpes) would also be invited to the breaking-fast event.
‘Yes, alhamdulillah, as usual, as with those invited — religious figures, yes, Islamic organisations, the leaders of pesantren (pesantren) — in keeping with the capacity of the room available,’ he said.
In the meeting with Prabowo, the Speaker of the MPR Ahmad Muzani was also present. Muzani said it was not ruled out that Prabowo would seek views from religious leaders and Islamic organisations regarding Indonesia’s position on the Board of Peace (BoP) at tomorrow’s event.
‘In principle, the President is very open to the thoughts and views of all community leaders, national leaders. Therefore tomorrow will also be part of that effort; the President wants to listen to the viewpoints, even though the President will later express his own views on the matter (Board of Peace),’ Muzani said.
