The conferral of state honours is routinely held as part of the Independence Day commemorations. This year, the ceremony will take place one week after the 81st Independence Day ceremony.

“It is planned for one week after the seconds-of-proclamation commemoration,” State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi told reporters at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

Regarding the candidates to be honoured, Pras said the list is still being finalised. He said recipients will come from various backgrounds.

“Not yet, we are still finalising. But we can assure you that there will be a great deal of variety. We have also discussed this several times with the President,” he said.

Pras confirmed that the recipients are figures deemed worthy, including those who have dedicated themselves to the nation and achieved distinction in various fields.

“So there are many individuals who, according to the honours and titles team, we consider worthy of receiving awards,” he said.

“For example, individuals who have dedicated themselves in the field of technology to the point of holding technology patents recognised internationally. That is also one of those on the list,” Pras continued.
