Prabowo to Award 'Bintang Mahaputera' to the National Police Chief and the TNI Commander
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that he would award the ‘Bintang Mahaputera’ honour to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and the TNI Commander, General Agus Subiyanto, for their commendable performance.
“I see that the Polri has achieved good results. Has the National Police Chief ever received the ‘Bintang Mahaputera’? I believe not. President Prabowo will award the star,” said Prabowo during a speech at the simultaneous mass corn harvest event and the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 10 Polri food security buildings in Tuban Regency, East Java, which was monitored online from Jakarta on Saturday.
“And you, Commander, have you received it? President Prabowo will give it to you,” he added.
Upon hearing this, the National Police Chief and the TNI Commander stood up and saluted President Prabowo.
The President said that the award is given as a form of appreciation for the leadership and achievements demonstrated within the organization.
According to Prabowo, if an organization performs well, it indicates good leadership.
Prabowo said that the Polri has shown various achievements, including supporting the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program and participating in the mass corn harvest, which he has attended several times.
In addition, Prabowo also mentioned the innovations displayed by the Polri in various activities, which made him happy.
“I see that Mr. Listyo has been successful, hasn’t he? What can I say? Yes, right? I see that the MBG is great, well-organized, and efficient. This is not just praise; I am also stingy when it comes to giving awards, but I want to be objective,” he said.
On that occasion, Prabowo said that leadership in an organization has consequences for both success and failure.
According to Prabowo, leaders who succeed deserve appreciation, while those who fail should be evaluated.
“I see the Polri’s role as extraordinary, and I think this is due to leadership. If it’s good, we must acknowledge it. If it’s good, we acknowledge it, and in an organization, if the organization is good, it means the leader is good, right?” said the President.
Prabowo also cited the example of the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, who was previously given a target to achieve food self-sufficiency within four years but managed to achieve it in one year, thus receiving the ‘Bintang Jasa Utama’ award.
“If a football team wins, then the manager is good, the coach is good, the team captain is good, and the contract is extended, right? If it’s not good, they are removed. It’s simple; this is life. So, if you want to be a football team captain and keep losing, but still want your contract extended, that won’t happen,” said the President.
