Prabowo to Attend May Day Celebrations at Monas

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, stated that President Prabowo Subianto will attend the Labour Day celebrations on 1 May 2026 at Monas. According to him, this demonstrates the commitment that the government stands together with workers.

Qodari explained that worker welfare and business health are not two opposing matters, but rather two sides of the same goal.

“As a form of this commitment, the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is scheduled to attend the peak of the National Labour Day commemoration in 2026, which will be held at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta,” said Qodari, quoting an official statement, on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

Qodari stated that the government always stands together with, not against, workers. In addition, the state also serves as a protector of workers, while simultaneously safeguarding job sustainability.

Especially ahead of Labour Day, the public, particularly workers, are faced with various concerns. These include threats of termination of employment (PHK), pressure from living costs, and economic uncertainty.

“The government notes and understands these anxieties. The state is present as a protector of workers as well as a guardian of job sustainability,” he said.
