JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the Labour Day or May Day commemoration at Monas in Jakarta on 1 May 2026.

“President Prabowo is scheduled to attend the peak of the 2026 National Labour Day commemoration to be held at the National Monument in Jakarta,” said Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom) RI M Qodari during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

Qodari stated that the government’s position is alongside workers or labourers, not in opposition to them.

He emphasised that the government is present to protect workers while also safeguarding employment opportunities.

Qodari explained that the government believes worker welfare and business health are not mutually conflicting.

He stressed that workers and business owners share the same goals and need each other.

“If the business world is not healthy, there will be no salaries, and vice versa,” he said.

President of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea said the event is expected to be attended by hundreds of thousands of workers.

He mentioned that 211,800 workers will attend, plus participants from online motorcycle taxis who will join.

Thus, the total number of participants is estimated to reach around 400,000 people.

“And it will be attended by President Prabowo Subianto. International labour figures will also attend in person,” said Andi Gani during a press conference in the Cikini area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (27/4/2026).
