Prabowo to Attend Mass Corn Harvest in East Java, Police and Farmers Ready to Provide Support
Residents and farmers are eagerly anticipating Prabowo’s visit. His presence will serve as a source of encouragement for the farming community and a moment to reinforce their shared commitment to supporting national food security, which is part of the President’s Asta Cita vision for achieving national independence through food self-sufficiency.
Tuban Regency is one of the largest corn-producing areas in East Java, with approximately 629 hectares of land entering the harvest season this year. This potential makes Tuban a strategic area in supporting the national corn self-sufficiency target.
The Assistant Chief of Police for Human Resources, who also serves as the Head of the National Food Security Task Force, Inspector General Anwar, stated that the Simultaneous Mass Corn Harvest is a clear example of collaboration between the government, the police, and farmers in strengthening national food security.
“The police and corn farmers in Tuban warmly welcome the planned visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to the Simultaneous Mass Corn Harvest in the Second Quarter of 2026. The President’s presence among the farmers will be a great motivation to continue increasing productivity and strengthening efforts towards national corn self-sufficiency,” said Inspector General Anwar to reporters on Saturday (16/5/2026).
According to him, the success of the food sector is inseparable from the collaboration of all parties. This includes support from the police through assistance to farmers, distribution of superior seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural tools, as well as strengthening synergy with farmer groups through regional units.
Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), national corn production of dried kernels in 2025 reached 16.11 million tons, while national demand was 15.64 million tons, resulting in a surplus of approximately 470 thousand tons. This achievement serves as a foundation for achieving a national corn production target of 18 million tons in 2026.
In addition to carrying out the Simultaneous Mass Corn Harvest in the Second Quarter of 2026, Prabowo is also scheduled to visit the National Food Security Innovation booth, which will showcase various programs and initiatives to strengthen the food sector. The booth will include the Precision Coal Fertilizer Stand, the National Food Security Task Force Stand, the East Java Regional Police Food Security Warehouse Stand, the Alternative Food Security Stand for Purple Sweet Potatoes, the Bhayangkara Corn Seed Stand, the Miracle Carbob Stand made from corn cobs, and the National Police Food Security Support Center (SPPG) Stand.
The President is also scheduled to witness the handover of People’s Business Credit (KUR) to representatives of farmer groups by Bank Himbara. The KUR is a form of financial support to increase agricultural productivity.
Other activities include the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 10 National Police Food Security Warehouses as an effort to strengthen the food storage and distribution system, as well as the launch of the operation of 166 National Police Food Security Support Centers (SPPG) to support the program to meet the nutritional needs of the community. As part of the series of activities, Prabowo and his team are also scheduled to visit a health service and the National Police’s Affordable Food Movement, and witness the launch of a food security support program.
“Food security is the strength of the nation. When farmers become stronger and production increases, Indonesia will be better prepared to realize sustainable food independence. The police will continue to be present to support the community to ensure that food security becomes the foundation of national resilience,” added Inspector General Anwar.
The Simultaneous Mass Corn Harvest in the Second Quarter of 2026 is expected to be a strong symbol of collaboration between the government, the police, farmers, banks, and all stakeholders in accelerating the realization of an independent Indonesia, while ensuring that the benefits of development are truly felt by the community.
