Prabowo to Attend DPRD Chair Retreat at Akmil Magelang Today
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to provide guidance to hundreds of Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah (DPRD) chairs during a retreat at the Akademi Militer (Akmil) in Magelang, Central Java, on Saturday, 18 April 2026. This was announced by Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Teddy shared details of Prabowo’s activities this morning via a post on the Sekretariat Kabinet’s Instagram account. He uploaded two photos of Prabowo swimming in the pool at the Head of State’s private residence in Hambalang, West Java. In both photos, Prabowo is seen wearing swimming goggles and a swim cap.
Prabowo began his day with his routine one-hour swim around 05:00 WIB. “He will then depart at 08:00 a.m. for Magelang to deliver guidance to DPRD Chairs across Indonesia,” wrote Teddy in the caption on the @sekretariat.kabinet account, Saturday, 18 April 2026.
The Lembaga Ketahanan Nasional (Lemhanas) is holding the retreat for hundreds of DPRD chairs from 15 to 19 April 2026 at Akmil Magelang. Retreats have frequently been conducted during the Prabowo Subianto administration. Previously, retreats were also mandatory for ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet and regional heads.
This retreat invites 557 DPRD Chairs from across Indonesia, comprising 38 provincial DPRD Chairs, 93 city DPRD Chairs, and 415 regency DPRD Chairs.
Eleven officials from the Indonesian Regency DPRD Chairs Association are also participating in this retreat. However, only 479 out of the total 557 DPRD Chairs are recorded as attending.
Lemhanas Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily stated that the purpose of the DPRD Chairs’ retreat is to enhance the institution’s capacity in facing national and regional development challenges. “Participants are encouraged to become strategic partners for local governments and agents of change,” said Ace on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
Furthermore, he stated that the purpose of this DPRD Chairs’ retreat is to build synergy between the central and regional governments, as well as to shape perspectives, reaffirm national commitments, and strengthen the role of DPRD leaders in realising the Golden Indonesia 2045 aspirations.
This is because, Ace said, DPRD Chairs have an important role in guiding and realising Asta Cita at the regional level. DPRD, he said, is not only the bearer of legislative, budgeting, and oversight functions over local governments.
“But also the guardian of harmony between national interests and local aspirations. A strategic role that determines whether development can proceed in harmony or become fragmented,” said Ace.
