Prabowo to Attend DPR Plenary Session Tomorrow, to Deliver 2027 Economic Direction
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto will attend the DPR RI plenary session on Wednesday (20 May 2026) to personally present the Macro Economic Framework (KEM) and the Fiscal Policy Core Principles (PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN. ‘Yes, the plan is as such. So, the delivery of the macroeconomic framework, and also the main policies of fiscal policy that will be delivered directly by the President,’ Saan said when contacted at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (19 May 2026). The Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Saan Mustopa confirmed the plan for Prabowo’s attendance at the plenary session. When asked whether this is the first time the President will directly present the KEM-PPKF before the DPR, he did not deny. ‘From what I know, normally the Government does not attend in person by the President,’ he said. One of the agenda items is ‘Delivery of Macro Economic Framework (KEM) and Fiscal Policy Core Principles (PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN by the Government.’ In addition, the DPR will hold the Legislative Body’s report on the evaluation of changes to the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) – Priority Bills for 2026 – followed by a decision making. The plenary is also scheduled to hear the opinions of factions on the Bill proposed by DPR’s Commission III concerning amendments to Law Number 2 of 2002 on the Indonesian Republic Police before it is decided as a DPR-initiated bill. According to Kompas.com notes, the delivery of the KEM-PPKF in previous years has been carried out by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati. For example, in May 2024, Sri Mulyani represented the government by delivering the KEM-PPKF 2025 at the DPR plenary session. At that time, the government targeted economic growth of around 5.1 to 5.5 percent. The target was formulated taking into account controlled inflation, the continuation of resource downstreaming, development of the electric vehicle industry, and digitalisation aided by a better investment climate and human resource quality. ‘Inflation is projected to be between 1.5 and 3.5 percent,’ Sri Mulyani said at the DPR Building on 20 May 2024. At that time, the government set the 2026 growth target at around 5.2% to 5.8%. ‘We project 2026 growth at around 5.2 to 5.8 percent,’ Sri Mulyani said in the DPR plenary session, 20 May 2025.
