President Prabowo Subianto and US President Donald Trump are set to meet today. Prabowo is scheduled to sign an Indonesia-US trade tariff agreement and attend a Board of Peace (BoP) meeting.

"He will attend an invitation regarding the BoP meeting, and as part of coordination between the two nations, one of the additional agenda items is, God willing, the signing of a trade tariff agreement with the US government," said Cabinet Secretary Prasetyo Hadi at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18 February 2026) following a meeting with House of Representatives leaders.

Prasetyo said Prabowo's visit to the United States was originally to attend the invitation to the inaugural Board of Peace meeting today. Following the event, Prabowo is scheduled to sign the new trade tariff deal with Trump.

"The plan for the signing, if it goes according to schedule, is on 19 February. After the BoP, there will then be the planned signing of the tariff cooperation agreement," he added.

Prasetyo said that for the time being, there have been no changes to the substance of the agreement from previous discussions. However, he expressed hope that there would be positive developments during the meeting between Prabowo and Trump.

"For the time being, there have been no changes. But of course, let us all hope that perhaps during the meeting between President Prabowo and President Trump, there will be changes that benefit our nation and country," he said.

Prasetyo expressed hope for more favourable figures. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that the final outcome depends on the negotiation process.

"Our hope is certainly that it would be like that, yes — lower. Who knows," he said.

Prabowo is known to have arrived in the United States to meet President Donald Trump. The two leaders will discuss economic cooperation, including trade tariff negotiations.

As reported by the Presidential Secretariat Bureau, the Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying Prabowo and his entourage landed at Andrews Military Base in Washington DC on Tuesday (17 February) at 11.55 local time.

At the foot of the aircraft steps, Prabowo was greeted by Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, Indonesian Defence Attaché in Washington Air Vice Marshal E. Wisoko Aribowo, and Maintenance Group Commander Colonel Gary Charland.
