Prabowo to Appoint Special Envoys to All State-Owned Enterprises
President Prabowo Subianto will place special envoys in each state-owned enterprise (BUMN) under Indonesia’s management. The measure aims to oversee the performance of state-owned companies.
“I have appointed special presidential envoys. And perhaps I will later appoint special envoys for each BUMN that we manage,” he said at a thanksgiving event for BPI Danantara, cited on Thursday (12 March 2026).
According to him, state-owned enterprises must be monitored to prevent further leakage or corruption. “We must monitor because this is the lifeblood of the Indonesian nation. If this blood continues to leak, our nation is in difficulty,” he stated.
Prabowo explained that state-owned companies, which were originally established to contribute to society, have gradually deviated from their purpose.
“When the nation was newly independent, the founders established the state company Pertamina. It turned out that the good intentions of the nation’s founders eventually produced subsidiary companies, granddaughter companies, and great-granddaughter companies. I was shocked—Pertamina has 200 subsidiary and granddaughter companies,” he said.
“And strangely, there are even more peculiar regulations. If a BUMN can be audited by the state, the rule says that granddaughter companies cannot be audited. Where does this regulation come from? So brothers and sisters, our premise turned out to be correct,” he continued.
Prabowo is optimistic that Indonesia’s future will be bright in facing various economic crises by seizing available opportunities.
“Our future is strong, our future is bright. We will face crises with courage. Crises are opportunities. Let us unite, live in harmony, and work hard,” he concluded.
