Prabowo: TNI-Polri Officers Now Belong to the Nation and State
President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that newly commissioned junior officers of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) now belong to the nation and state, bearing the responsibility to serve the people and defend national interests. In his address at the Prasetya Perwira ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, the President stated that the newly commissioned officers no longer belong to themselves or their families. “Starting today, you are truly no longer your family’s. You have become the property of the nation and state. You are the next generation who will shoulder the heavy responsibility of defending the nation and state, continuing the ideals of the nation’s founders,” said Prabowo. The Head of State said the officers are the successors who will bear the great responsibility of defending the country and nation and carrying on the aspirations of the founding fathers. The President also reminded them that the TNI and Polri are the people’s military and police, so the hardships faced by the people must become the officers’ own hardships in carrying out their duties. According to him, the newly commissioned officers have taken an oath, a sacred promise to God Almighty, the nation, the state, and all the people of Indonesia. “Be loyal to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. Be loyal to the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia. Most importantly, be loyal to the people of Indonesia. Let there never be any interest higher than the interest of the nation,” he stressed. The President added that the commissioning was not merely a ceremony or the finish line of their education, but the beginning of their service to the nation and state. “Today is not just a ceremony, today is not the finish line, today is the beginning of service to the nation and state,” said the President. Earlier, President Prabowo commissioned 1,177 cadets from the TNI Academy and the Police Academy as junior TNI and Polri officers during the Prasetya Perwira Ceremony at Merdeka Palace. The commissioned officers consisted of 512 Army officers, 229 Navy officers, 154 Air Force officers, and 282 Police officers. On that occasion, the President also pinned rank insignia on the four recipients of the Adhi Makayasa award, namely Calvin Tidar Sakti from the Military Academy, Muhammad Rizqi Wira Utama Baihaqi Putra from the Naval Academy, Yehezkiel Bonaventura Yudaniarman from the Air Force Academy, and Harindra Arsandho Tegarbaja from the Police Academy.
