Prabowo: TNI-Polri Are Vital Institutions for the Nation's Survival
President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised the importance of synergy between the TNI and Polri in safeguarding and strengthening the unity of the Indonesian nation. Prabowo stressed that the TNI and Polri are vital institutions for the state.
He made the remarks while inaugurating 1,177 young TNI-Polri officers at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. A moment of togetherness was also on display between President Prabowo, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.
“My dear brothers and sisters, the TNI and Polri are two institutions that are vital for the survival of the state,” Prabowo said in his address.
According to Prabowo, the TNI and Polri must be strong, professional, and continue to work together to protect the Indonesian nation. He stressed that there must be no narrow corps loyalty.
“Integrity is an officer’s honour. Never abuse your position, never be tempted by corruption or misconduct. Never compromise with drugs, gambling, or any other violations of the law. The moment you betray the people is the moment you lose your honour,” Prabowo said.
In this regard, Prabowo stated that TNI-Polri personnel belong to the nation and the state. As the successor generation, he reminded them of the heavy responsibility of defending the state and nation, and of carrying forward the ideals of the nation’s founders.
“I am proud because you have learned the most important thing: being an officer means being present when the people face hardship. That is the true meaning of service. I am pleased that this class has been directly involved in disaster response in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra. We are the people’s soldiers and police. The people’s difficulties will be your difficulties,” Prabowo said.
Going further, Prabowo stressed that the oath taken by TNI-Polri officers is not merely a string of words. Rather, he said, it is a sacred promise to Almighty God, to the nation, to the state, and to all the Indonesian people.
“Hold firmly to the oath you have taken. Be loyal to Pancasila, to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, be loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and above all, be loyal to the Indonesian people,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo reminded all TNI-Polri personnel to always remain loyal to the nation and state, to serve the people devotedly, and to keep fighting for Indonesia. “The nation, the state, and the people of Indonesia await your dedication and your service,” Prabowo concluded.
