President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the increasing frequency of his visits to France over the past year during his meeting with President Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Thursday, 28 May 2026. This visit marks his third trip to France this year, following official visits on 23 January and 14 April. ‘As you know, I have already been to France three times this year,’ Prabowo said in Paris, according to the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel. Indonesia was also invited to participate in the Bastille Day parade in 2025. Addressing French President Emmanuel Macron, Prabowo expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the French government. He stated that Indonesia-France relations are currently at their best level ever, attributing the strong ties to Macron’s direct support in strengthening bilateral cooperation. ‘I agree, Your Excellency, that Indonesia-France relations are at their best ever,’ he added. Prabowo noted that cooperation between the two countries continues to expand across various sectors, including defence, education, clean energy, science and technology, and investment. ‘We will certainly see more concrete, balanced, and impactful cooperation in the future,’ he said.
