Prabowo: Those Who Say Indonesia is Dark May Have Poor Eyesight

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto questioned those promoting the narrative that Indonesia is dark. This emerged when Prabowo inaugurated the electric commercial vehicle assembly facility of PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk in Magelang, Central Java, on Thursday (9/4/2026). “So for the young people, our future is bright. Those who say it’s not bright, those who say Indonesia is dark, perhaps their eyes are not good. Their eyes and hearts,” he said. “What can we do? If someone’s heart is not sincere, their eyes are blurry, then Indonesia is dark. Indonesia is not dark, Indonesia is very, very bright,” he continued. Prabowo assessed that Indonesia is currently getting stronger. Economic growth is also good. “Next year we will create a surprise for the whole world. Indonesia is rising. This giant is waking up. We will no longer be the sleeping giant, we are rising,” said Prabowo.
