Prabowo: There Is No Dark Indonesia, Indonesia Is Bright While Many Countries Are Struggling
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed his optimism regarding Indonesia’s future amid a global situation filled with uncertainties. He believes there is no such thing as a “dark Indonesia” because the nation’s condition is instead seen as heading in a bright direction. “For me, there is no dark Indonesia. Indonesia is bright at a time when many countries are struggling,” Prabowo stated while delivering a briefing to ministers, deputy ministers, agency heads, and echelon I officials at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026). According to him, this optimism is based on various government efforts to maintain national stability, especially amid global conflicts impacting the energy sector. He emphasised that these visits are not mere trips but part of a strategy to secure national interests. “They say I enjoy travelling abroad. To secure oil, I have to go everywhere,” he said. He revealed that from several such visits, Indonesia has obtained various agreements, including during his trip to Japan. Prabowo also mentioned that he will soon make visits to other countries. “So standing here, brothers and sisters, don’t think this is an easy job. Those who want to become president, good luck. I’ve already committed. So now I have to work hard, no holidays for me,” Prabowo concluded.
