Prabowo: The State Budget is a Tool to Protect the People

JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has stated that the State Budget (APBN) is not merely a national financial document, but a tool to protect the people. “The APBN is a manifestation of our struggle as a nation. The APBN is a tool to protect the people, and a tool to strengthen the foundations and pillars of the national economy,” Prabowo said during a plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR-RI) on Wednesday (20/05/2026).

He further noted that the APBN is a mechanism to ensure that every citizen can live more prosperously. Consequently, Prabowo stated that the budget is prepared collectively as a commitment to realising the ideals of the 1945 Constitution.

“With that awareness, we prepare our APBN as a form of shared commitment to realise the noble ideals mandated in our Constitution, the 1945 Constitution,” he said.

The DPR plenary session was attended by 451 members of parliament and was held openly. The session was also attended by high-ranking officials of state institutions and leaders of various political parties.
