Prabowo tests Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT alongside students

President Prabowo Subianto travelled on the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai Light Rail Transit (LRT) route in Jakarta, accompanied by several junior high school students and Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, as part of the route’s inauguration on Wednesday.

President Prabowo, along with his entourage and the students, departed from Kelapa Gading LRT Station heading towards Manggarai LRT Station. During the journey, the LRT train stopped at several stations, including Boulevard Utara Summarecon Mall, Boulevard Selatan, Pulomas, Equestrian, Velodrome, Rawamangun, Pramuka, Matraman, and Proklamasi.

Pramono utilised the journey to present plans for the development of mass transportation in Jakarta, specifically regarding the LRT. He also mentioned that Danantara could assist Jakarta in achieving intra-city transport connectivity.

Pramono further explained the reasons why the Jakarta Provincial Government is focusing on completing the construction of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route. He noted that in 2018, the Jakarta LRT route only served Kelapa Gading to Velodrome to support transportation needs during the 2018 Asian Games.

“In your era, this is actually being continued through to Manggarai. The reason I am so persistent is because this will be completed during your term, Sir. Once this is finished, we will be assisted by the Ministry of Transportation,” Pramono told the President.

Pramono also explained the role of Trans-Jabodetabek services, which facilitate travel from Jakarta to several satellite cities, such as Depok, Bogor, and Bekasi.

During the journey to Manggarai, President Prabowo was accompanied by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, and Presidential Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman.
