Prabowo Tells IPDN Graduates: The People Do Not Need Convoluted Bureaucracy

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 1,204 graduates of the Institute of Domestic Governance (IPDN) 33rd Cohort of 2026, comprising 728 men and 476 women, as junior civil administrators (Pamong Praja Muda). The inauguration ceremony was held at the Parade Ground of the IPDN Jatinangor Campus in Sumedang Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (29/7/2026).

In his address, Prabowo reminded the junior civil administrators that their primary duty is to serve and meet the needs of the community.

“You are servants of the people. You must serve, protect and nurture society, nurturing the Indonesian people as best you can. Our people do not need convoluted bureaucracy,” he said.

Prabowo also emphasised the importance of integrity in carrying out duties as state officials. He asked the IPDN graduates to work honestly, with discipline and cleanliness, and to be brave in making decisions for the public interest.

“Our people do not need leaders who do not work to the best of their ability. The people need, and even demand, officials who work honestly, with discipline and cleanliness, free of corruption, brave in making decisions, and always present when the people need them,” said Prabowo.

On that occasion, Prabowo also expressed appreciation for the cohort of civil administrators who had gone directly to handle the disaster in Aceh. This means they had already helped the community in times of difficulty. For this reason, according to Prabowo, as civil administrators they must also know how great a benefit they have delivered to the people.

Furthermore, Prabowo reminded them that civil administrators are also the face and symbol of the state, meaning their conduct and appearance are judged directly by the people.

“The people assess whether our state is present or not, whether our state is orderly or not, whether our state is something to be proud of or not, whether our state is an honourable one or not. From your decisions, the people will judge whether the state deserves to be trusted or not. Such is the weight of the duties and responsibilities of civil administrators,” said Prabowo.
