President Prabowo Subianto targets every classroom in schools to have interactive smart screens as adequate interactive learning facilities for students in Indonesia, especially in remote areas.

The distribution of smart screens to schools has begun this year, with Prabowo hoping that by the end of this year, every school will have four smart screens.

“Have the schools in Gorontalo received the smart screens? Already? Yes. One. But starting this year, each school will receive three,” said Prabowo during a working visit to Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih in South Leato, Gorontalo, on Saturday (9/5).

“That means I hope by the end of this year, every school will have four classrooms with screens called smart screens because they are indeed smart. We can use them interactively,” he continued.

Next year, added Prabowo, the government will increase the distribution of smart screens to schools.

“Eventually, all classrooms will have those smart screens,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo stated that the presence of smart screens aims to assist the learning process in remote areas through direct support from the centre.

“Teachers in difficult places can be helped from the centre. Additional lessons, syllabus support, teaching materials—we can do it directly in real time,” explained Prabowo.

In addition, Prabowo said that smart screens can monitor learning activities in every class, including knowing teacher attendance at school on that day.

“We can monitor all classes across Indonesia from Jakarta. So if there are teachers who don’t show up, we can see which teachers are absent that day,” he stated.

Prabowo previously promised to allocate substantial funds for the education sector in Indonesia. One of them is by providing adequate learning facilities for students in Indonesia.

He mentioned that in the future, learning facilities such as smart screens will be intensified in every classroom.

Prabowo emphasised that every Indonesian child deserves and is entitled to the best education.

“I want all classrooms to have digital screens, smart boards, smart classes—currently, there’s only one per school, some have two, that’s great already two, so our target is still maybe three or four more per school,” said Prabowo some time ago.
