Prabowo Targets 8% Economic Growth, Rosan Says Rp 13,000 Trillion Investment Needed
Investment and Downstreaming Minister/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani has stated that Indonesia needs Rp 13,032.87 trillion in investment throughout 2025-2029. The figure is required to support the 8% economic growth target set by President Prabowo Subianto. According to Rosan, this investment requirement has increased significantly compared to investment achievements over the past decade. The investment target has risen by 143% compared to the last 10 years. “The President is targeting growth of 8% and this is the target given, so the funds needed in 2025-2029, that target is Rp 13,032.87 trillion. This is an increase of approximately 143% from the realisation over the last 10 years,” Rosan said during a working meeting with Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta. Nevertheless, Rosan emphasised that the government is not solely focused on pursuing large nominal investment values entering Indonesia. Investment quality remains a primary concern to ensure it provides a tangible impact on the economy and job creation. “Our investment strategy is not merely about pursuing nominal amounts, but also targeting how this incoming investment is quality investment. At the same time, the realisation or acceleration, implementation, and contribution to strengthening the economy both regionally and nationally,” he explained. On that occasion, Rosan presented data showing investment realisation in the first quarter of 2026 reached Rp 498.8 trillion, or 24.4% of the 2026 target of Rp 2,041.3 trillion. This achievement also absorbed around 700,000 direct jobs. “Amidst global geopolitical and geoeconomic dynamics, investment realisation during the first quarter of 2026 reached Rp 498.8 trillion. This figure grew by roughly 7.2% or represents 24.4% of the total target for 2026. This investment also absorbed approximately 700,000 direct workers, an increase of 18.9%,” Rosan concluded.
