Prabowo Targets 8% Economic Growth, Rosan: Requires Rp13,032 Trillion Investment
Jakarta – Minister for Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani stated that Indonesia needs investment totalling Rp13,032.87 trillion to reach the 8% economic growth target by 2029. This was conveyed by Rosan during a working meeting with Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Monday, 15 June 2026. According to Rosan, this investment requirement is far greater than the investment realisation Indonesia achieved over the past decade. “The President is targeting growth of 8%, and this is the target given, so the funds required for 2025-2029 amount to Rp13,032.87 trillion. This is an increase of approximately 143% from the realisation over the last 10 years,” Rosan said. He explained that the 143% increase in the investment target demonstrates the substantial financing needs to support the development agenda and accelerate national economic growth over the next five years. Nevertheless, Rosan stressed that the government is not solely pursuing large investment figures entering Indonesia. Investment quality is also a crucial aspect that must be maintained to provide sustainable economic benefits. According to him, incoming investment must be capable of creating jobs, accelerating project implementation, and contributing to economic strengthening at both regional and national levels. “Our investment strategy does not merely chase nominal amounts, but also targets how incoming investment is quality investment. At the same time, we focus on realisation or acceleration, implementation, and contribution to economic strengthening, both regionally and nationally,” he clarified. On the same occasion, Rosan also presented the development of national investment realisation in the first three months of 2026. Based on data from the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, the investment value realised during the first quarter of 2026 reached Rp498.8 trillion. This achievement is equivalent to 24.4% of the 2026 national investment target, which is set at Rp2,041.3 trillion. Besides recording investment growth, this realisation also contributed to significant labour absorption. “Amidst global geopolitical and geo-economic dynamics, investment realisation during the first quarter of 2026 reached Rp498.8 trillion. This figure grew by approximately 7.2% or represents 24.4% of the total 2026 target. This investment also absorbed approximately 700,000 direct workers, an increase of 18.9%,” Rosan concluded.
