Prabowo targets 5.8–6.5% economic growth in 2027
Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has targeted Indonesia’s economic growth in 2027 to be in the range of 5.8–6.5 percent. ‘With the right economic strategy, prudent and sustainable fiscal policy, I am confident that Indonesia’s economy can grow within the range of 5.8–6.5 percent in 2027, moving towards 8 percent growth by 2029,’ Prabowo said at a DPR plenary meeting at the Plenary Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday (20 May 2026). Prabowo added that the growth must be reflected in a tangible improvement in the welfare of the people. He targets the poverty rate to fall to between 6.0 and 6.5 percent, from the previous target of 6.5 to 7.5 percent. In addition, Prabowo also targets state revenue in the APBN 2027 to reach between 11.82 and 12.40 percent of GDP (Gross Domestic Product, PDB). ‘Firstly, state revenue in the APBN 2027. We target to achieve a range of 11.82 to 12.40 percent of our gross domestic product,’ he said. ‘To support our priority programs and vital programs, government spending is planned to be within the range of 13.62 to 14.80 percent of our GDP,’ he added. Meanwhile, on financing, the budget deficit will be kept in the range of 1.80 to a maximum of 2.40 percent of GDP. ‘And we will continue to strive to reduce and shrink this deficit,’ he said.
