Prabowo Targets 30,000 'Red and White' Village Cooperatives by 2026, Citing Soekarno

President Prabowo Subianto is targeting the establishment of 30,000 Kopdes Merah Putih (Red and White Village Cooperatives) by the end of 2026. To date, 10,000 cooperatives are already operating optimally out of a total of 10,333.

“Our target is 30,000 optimal cooperatives by the end of 2026,” Prabowo said in his address at the Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD in commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026).

The target was deliberately set high, and Prabowo expressed confidence that it can be achieved. He also quoted President Soekarno, who urged people to hang their aspirations as high as the sky.

“Targets must be high; work hard, and God willing, we will get there,” Prabowo said.

“If I set a target of 12,000, we might reach 11,000. If the target is 30,000 and we reach 29,000, that is still an achievement,” he added.

He explained that the 10,000 cooperatives are already working optimally, with operations and infrastructure up and running.

The cooperatives, he said, have been purchasing fisheries and agricultural produce. Likewise, transport services have been operating independently.

“This is the first time in history that cooperatives have been organised, assisted, and equipped with their own transport,” he explained.

As a result, Prabowo claimed, there will no longer be spoiled harvests. He pledged that his administration can help the people optimally.

“No more spoiled harvests, because there is no one to buy the produce and no lorries to transport the harvest—mangoes spoiling, rambutans spoiling, tomatoes spoiling, carrots spoiling. God willing, we can help our people optimally,” he said.
