Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto was swarmed by students competing for autographs after inspecting the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme at SMP Negeri 111 Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom), after reviewing the programme’s execution and interacting with students in their classrooms, Prabowo prepared to depart for his next agenda. However, his progress was briefly halted by the enthusiasm of students who flocked towards him, vying for the signature of Indonesia’s top leader.

“Sir, an autograph, please,” the students called out to Prabowo. Some were seen calling his name while waving from behind their classmates. With great excitement, students held out notebooks, paper, pens, and various other items, hoping for a direct signature from the President.

Observing the children’s enthusiasm, Prabowo kindly accommodated the students’ requests. The President took the time to sign for several students who had been waiting expectantly. The atmosphere grew even more lively as cheers and happy smiles lit up the faces of those who successfully obtained an autograph, with many students capturing the rare moment on their mobile phones.

Prabowo’s visit to SMPN 111 Jakarta was intended to ensure that this national priority programme is running effectively. The President entered several classrooms to observe the MBG programme firsthand, where students were enjoying the meals provided. The President also joined the students in eating together.

In another classroom, a warm and intimate atmosphere was observed as President Prabowo took the opportunity to chat with the students. The President asked about their future ambitions, which was met with students raising their hands. “Who wants to be a doctor? Who wants to be an engineer? Who wants to be a teacher? Who wants to be a footballer?” the President asked.

At the school, the MBG programme provides more than just food on desks; it aims to foster the belief that every Indonesian child has an equal opportunity to dream big and realise those dreams for the future of the nation.
