Prabowo supports Pramono's green space policy for Jakarta
President Prabowo Subianto supports the policy of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to increase jogging tracks and parks in various corners of the capital to manage Jakarta’s green spaces.
“And his plan to create jogging tracks, parks, and so on, I strongly support,” said Prabowo during the inauguration of the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line at Manggarai LRT Station on Wednesday.
Prabowo expressed this support after Pramono reported several steps taken by the Jakarta Provincial Government in managing the urban environment, including the cleaning of several water reservoirs.
“In one or two weeks, I will convene a meeting of Governors and Regents from across Indonesia with all Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) members to launch the Indonesia ASRI movement,” he said.
Prabowo stated that Jakarta could serve as a model for the implementation of this movement before it is applied to various other regions in Indonesia.
He also encouraged the involvement of local governments and building owners in expanding urban greenery, including through the construction of vertical gardens on large buildings.
“If it can be an initiative from building owners, if they face difficulties, the Local Government will step in,” said Prabowo.
“In the future, all provincial capitals and all regency capitals must be transformed. Indonesia must undergo a transformation. Eliminate waste, clean rivers using technology, and so on,” he added.
Prabowo noted that the central government is prepared to assist local governments in executing this environmental transformation through the Indonesia ASRI movement.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line, inaugurated by Prabowo, spans 12.2 kilometres with an investment value of Rp12.1 trillion and is targeted to serve up to 80,000 passengers per day.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that LRT Jakarta passengers will be charged a fare of Rp8,000 per single trip for eight days following the inauguration.
