Prabowo: Support for Palestinian independence non-negotiable

President Prabowo Subianto has stressed that Indonesia’s support for the Palestinian struggle for independence is a non-negotiable principle of its foreign policy. “We are on good terms with all powers, but what we cannot negotiate is supporting the struggle for Palestinian independence,” Prabowo said during a speech at the 28th anniversary celebration of the National Awakening Party (PKB) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Thursday evening. The President stated that Indonesia will continue to pursue a free and active foreign policy while respecting all countries and global powers. As a non-aligned nation, Indonesia does not wish to have enemies or interfere with other countries. “We are grateful that we are non-aligned, we have no enemies, we respect all countries, we respect all powers. We want to be free and active,” he said. “Indonesia’s foreign policy under my administration is a policy of being a good neighbour. We want to be good neighbours,” he added. Despite the commitment to maintaining good relations with all nations, the President affirmed that Indonesia’s stance on supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle for independence remains unchanged. Prabowo also emphasised that Indonesia’s main defence strength lies in its universal people’s defence system and the people’s love for their nation and country. “We do not want to disturb others. But the entire Indonesian people will defend their sovereignty, defend their independence, and defend their future,” Prabowo stated.
