Prabowo: Support for Palestine Is Non-Negotiable

President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that Indonesia will continue to pursue a free and active foreign policy.

Prabowo stated that there is one principle that cannot be negotiated, namely support for the Palestinian struggle for independence.

He conveyed this while attending the peak of the 28th anniversary celebration (Harlah) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) on Thursday (23/7).

“As soon as I was inaugurated, I announced Indonesia’s foreign policy. We are grateful that we are non-aligned, that we have no enemies,” Prabowo said.

He said Indonesia respects all countries and powers, and wants to be a good neighbour to other nations.

“We want to be free and active. I say that Indonesian foreign policy under the government led by Prabowo Subianto is a policy of being a good neighbour. The good neighbour policy. We want to be good neighbours. We are good to all powers, but what we cannot negotiate is supporting the struggle for Palestine’s independence,” he said.

Prabowo said Indonesia does not wish to disturb other countries, and that the country is currently building up its defence capabilities.

“But where is our defence strength? Our defence strength is total people’s defence. Our defence lies in the people’s love for their country. That is our strength. We do not want to disturb others, but all the people of Indonesia will defend their sovereignty, will defend their independence, will defend their future,” he said.
