Prabowo Summons TNI Commander and Service Chiefs for Palace Meeting

President Prabowo Subianto received reports from senior Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) officers on the progress and achievements of various strategic programmes being undertaken by the institution on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. The Head of State met with TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Deputy TNI Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. During the meeting, President Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Head of the State Intelligence Agency Muhammad Herindra, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. According to Teddy, the TNI Commander and service chiefs reported on the development of various strategic programmes, including achievements that directly support equitable development and the improvement of community welfare. One of the topics discussed was the Army’s programme related to the development of electricity in Papua, particularly in the highlands region, which has now reached more than 200 villages. Teddy added that the construction of the Garuda Suspension Bridge, connecting villages across various regions of Indonesia, is ongoing and has now approached 2,000 locations. Furthermore, there has been an expansion of pipeline programmes and the construction of boreholes in areas with limited access to clean water. Based on the Army’s report, up to June 2026, the number of construction points has approached 2,000 locations, with Teddy claiming the programme benefits approximately one million residents. Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak also reported on the progress of various programmes aimed at improving the welfare of soldiers while supporting the execution of the TNI’s main duties throughout all regions of Indonesia. Teddy stated that through these various programmes, the TNI continues to contribute to strengthening equitable development, increasing inter-regional connectivity, and helping to meet the basic needs of communities in remote areas.
