Prabowo summons TNI Commander and National Police Chief to request forest fire mitigation reports
President Prabowo Subianto has summoned the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto, and the Chief of the National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to receive the latest reports regarding the mitigation of forest and land fires (karhutla) in Kalimantan and Sumatra.
The Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, explained that the limited meeting between President Prabowo, the TNI Commander, and the National Police Chief took and took place at the President’s private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (1/9).
“The meeting discussed the development of the national situation as well as the handling of forest and land fires in several regions of Sumatra and Kalimantan,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy, who also attended the meeting, when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday night.
During the meeting, Teddy reported that President Prabowo received updates on field conditions, including the measures taken for the handling and control of forest fires.
“The government continues to strengthen coordination to ensure that handling is swift and integrated, while simultaneously anticipating the expansion of fire hotspots,” said Teddy.
Also in attendance were the Head of the State Intelligence Agency, M. Herindra, and the Head of the Special Development and Investigation Agency (Bappisus), Aries Marsudiyanto.
President Prabowo led at least four consecutive limited meetings at his private residence in Hambalang on Monday. In addition to discussing national security and forest fire mitigation, the other meetings led by the President addressed the development of the Red and White Fishing Village (Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih), proposals for recipients of titles, decorations, and honours, and government programmes regarding decent housing for the community.
The meeting regarding public housing was attended by several ministers, including the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, the Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, the Minister of Housing and Residential Areas Maruarar Sirait, the Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto, the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, and the CTO of Danantara Sigit P. Santosa.
The meeting regarding the conferment of decorations, titles, and honours was attended by the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, the State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and the Cabinet Secretary Teddy.
The meeting regarding the Fishing Village was attended by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, the Minister of Investment/CEO of Danantara Rosan P. Roeslani, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto, the CTO of Danantara Sigit P. Santosa, the State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, the Cabinet Secretary Teddy, and the President Director of Pertamina Simon Aloysius Mantiri.
