Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto summoned a cohort of ministers and heads of economic institutions to the presidential palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The officials included Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, and Head of the Development Control and Special Investigation Agency (Bappisus) Aries Marsudiyanto.

Finance Minister Purbaya suggested the limited meeting would likely address fiscal stability. “I’m not yet sure (what the agenda is). We’re just being cautious. I will also ask about fiscal stability. (We discussed it) yesterday — fiscal stability,” Purbaya said at the presidential compound in central Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

He assured that Indonesia’s economic conditions remain sound. He noted that rupiah management would be significantly easier given strong economic fundamentals, compared to a fragile economy.

“If we ensure good economic development, sufficient money in the system, and Bank Indonesia monitors the exchange rate situation, good cooperation between government and BI is necessary to maintain exchange rate stability. With this kind of coordination, managing global market volatility is not overly difficult,” he stated.

In principle, said Aries, everything should be fine. “I don’t know what the meeting is about, but there must be something to discuss. Food is available, everything is stocked. Energy and fuel — there’s no need to worry. All supplies are adequate,” he explained.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, meanwhile, suspected the meeting would also address preparations for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, including measures to anticipate food price increases and the availability of fuel during the Lebaran exodus.

According to Bahlil, fuel availability needed discussion given rising global crude oil prices. Global oil prices surged above 100 US dollars per barrel beginning Sunday, 8 March 2026. Meanwhile, at the start of trading on Monday, 9 March 2026, the rupiah exchange rate had strengthened to Rp17,000 per US dollar.

“We know yesterday crude oil prices rose above 100 dollars per barrel. And today it has already dropped below 100, around 80–90 dollars. There is indeed very rapid fluctuation. That is probably what we discussed,” Bahlil noted.
